Emertec 2 is a seed financing fund which invests in micro and nanotechnologies, mainly in the semiconductor sector, favouring companies with high growth potential based in Western Europe.
The Emertec 2 Fund is a "fonds commun de placement à risque" (FCPR), or venture capital fund, with simplified reporting procedures and a 10-year lifespan. The Fund, which intends to reach €40 million, has raised its first €20 million from a broad range of investors. The Fund will make equity investments by acquiring minority holdings in target companies. During the first four or five years, the Fund will invest in new opportunities at the seed-money stage; subsequently it will limit its interventions to refinancing portfolio companies and optimizing exit conditions.
