EDXACT provides high-precision, high-performance technology for backend physical verification.

EDXACT is addressing one of the most predominant problems in physical verification: the explosion of data due to an accrued need to cope with parasitic elements.

Our task is to bridge the gap between extractors, which generate enormous amount of data and simulators, which can no longer cope with those amount of data.

By ensuring accuracy, together with a substantial decrease in simulation time, circuit designers are now able to gain time and confidence in the results of backend verification.



Today, circuit designers are struggling with a hard-to-solve equation. Common wish is to integrate a constantly increasing number of functionality into smaller and smaller devices. Several hundreds of millions of components is hardly surprising for the most advanced circuits.

The latest technologies available have to be used to satisfy this demand. Those technologies inherently have new and formerly negligible physical effects to take into account in the design process. Not taking into account means less control on the production, therefore a high risk of failing circuits, high production costs, lost time to market. Today, about 60% of first silicon fails due to circuit misbehavior related to physical deep submicron effects.

Complexity, performance, accuracy and physics

The problem is getting tougher and tougher. Smaller feature sizes, higher component densities, more integration lead to the conclusion that

PHYSICAL VERIFICATION IS A MUST.

In order to miniaturize and cope with low battery requirements, the latest technologies available have to be used. 90nm pitch width and below are technologies of today and the near future.



In order to handle the trade-off between performance and accuracy today's tools prefer far too often performance over accuracy for several reasons and prevent the user from choosing the appropriate precision on his own.
